Our Team

Dr. Charles F. Bittel (also known as Dr. Chuck or Dr. Bittel Senior) is a long-time resident of Orange County. He attended Western High School in Anaheim and completed his undergraduate degree in medical microbiology at California State University, Long Beach.

He began his professional career as an educator, teaching biology, physiology, and chemistry at Villa Park and Canyon High Schools. While teaching, he received a master’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of San Francisco.

Having originally intended a career in the health profession, Dr. Bittel returned to school and completed his doctorate at the Southern California College of Optometry. After graduation, he established his practice at the remote eastern ridge of Yorba Linda, which today is the town’s population center.

Dr. Charles F. Bittel III (also known as Dr. Charlie or Dr. Bittel Junior) was introduced to the world of optometry in 1983 at his father’s graduation from optometry school. He is a graduate of Servite High School in Anaheim and received his degree in psychology from UCLA. Dr. Charlie Bittel graduated summa cum laude from the Southern California College of Optometry in 2006 and was the class salutatorian.

Dr. Charlie Bittel, owner and primary optometrist at Charles Bittel III, OD, enjoys all aspects of family eye care and is happy to see patients anywhere from 4–104 years old. In the last few years, Dr. Charlie has developed a passion in dry eye disease and myopia management and has embraced the challenge of incorporating these areas of interest into his family practice. He has also had the honor of being a part of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care’s Professional Affairs Consulting team and Speaker’s Bureau. And, most recently, he has partnered with their LipiFlow team to help fellow optometrists incorporate dry eye clinics into their practices.

In his spare time, Dr. Charlie Bittel enjoys watching UCLA athletics and spending time with his amazingly talented wife Drew, who owns a successful photography business. He has 2 children, Brayden, who loves theater and swimming, and Kennedy, who lives to dance. Dr. Charlie Bittel and his family are proud members of the Yorba Linda community.

Dr. Joo Hae Chi grew up in the Bay Area, where, as a high school student, she was introduced to the world of optometry. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of California, Irvine. She then pursued her career and received her optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA, in 2005. Dr. Chi resides in Fullerton with her husband and 3 children, Madelyn, Isaac, and Jacob.
